1. Who we are
Emergent Works (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent game studio. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to Logos Construct, a card game in development in Godot, as well as any other games we release under the Emergent Works name.
Questions: hello@emergent.works.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect as little as we need. Depending on how you use the Services, that may include:
- Website logs. Like most sites, our host (Cloudflare) may process technical data such as IP address, browser type, requested URLs, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP. This is used to operate, secure, and debug the site.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive the address and content of that message, and we keep it as long as needed to respond and keep ordinary business records.
- Game data. Logos Construct is in development. A local, offline build may store settings and save data on your device only. If we later add online features (cloud saves, crash reports, analytics, accounts, or multiplayer), we will update this policy before those features collect personal data.
- Storefront data. If you buy or download a game through Steam, itch.io, or another platform, that platform—not Emergent Works—collects payment and account information under its own privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
This website is a static site. We do not currently set first-party analytics cookies. Cloudflare may use cookies or similar technologies as part of providing hosting, security, and performance. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site loads or how security features work.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, maintain, and secure the website and games
- respond to questions, bug reports, and other messages
- understand, at a coarse level, whether the site is working
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service
We do not use your data for advertising networks, and we do not build marketing profiles from this website.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
If data protection law requires a legal basis, we typically rely on:
- legitimate interests in running a secure studio website and developing our games
- performance of a contract if you license or purchase a game from us
- consent, where we ask for it (for example, optional analytics in a future game build)
- legal obligation, when we must keep or disclose information
6. Sharing
We share information only when needed:
- Processors. Cloudflare hosts this website and may process technical data to deliver it. Email providers process messages you send to us.
- Platforms. Game stores, console makers, and operating systems process data under their own policies when you use their services.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the Studio, players, or the public from harm or abuse.
We do not share personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing.
7. Retention
Server logs are kept only as long as our host retains them for security and operations. Email is kept as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and ordinary records. Device-side save data remains on your device until you delete the game or the files. If we introduce accounts or cloud saves, we will state retention periods for that data here.
8. International transfers
We and our processors may handle data in the United States and other countries. Cloudflare operates a global network. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms provided by our processors.
9. Children’s privacy
This website is a general-audience studio site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). Logos Construct does not yet have a final age rating. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, email hello@emergent.works. We may need to verify your request.
If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, including HTTPS and hosting on Cloudflare’s network. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the studio, the website, or Logos Construct changes. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page.
